Whitelist a Sender or Domain in Disruptor OL

By , About.com Guide

Given the comprehensive and well thought-out nature of Disruptor OL, why would you need to whitelist (mail from senders on your white list are never considered spam) anybody?

You don't need to do it. But even the best anti-spam tool (yes, even Disruptor OL) can produce false positives, and if you can avoid them with little effort, why not?

Newsletters in particular stand the chance of looking like spam to any filter. I have whitelisted the "about.com" domain in Disruptor OL, for example, to make sure I don't have to go looking for my About newsletters in the deleted Spam folder.

To whitelist a sender or domain in Disruptor OL:

  • Select Disruptor OL | Setup... from the Outlook toolbar.
  • Go to the Whitelist tab.
  • Make sure enabled is selected.
  • Now make sure whitelist is the selected tab under Enter mail addresses or domains (optional add a leading or trailing *):.
  • Click Add.
  • Type the email address or domain you want to whitelist.
    • To whitelist a whole domain, precede the domain name with the '*' wildcard character.
    • To whitelist all About newsletters, which come from the "about.com" domain, type "*@about.com", for example.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK again.
