POP to Web Gateway
POP (and IMAP) to web gateways allow you to access any POP email account through a browser. Not too different from what you can do with a web-based email account, is it?
No, but POP to Web gateways like
- mail2web &mash; possibly the most accessible and friendly
- XS2Mail clean and easy yet with IMAP power features or
- Molly Mail the most powerful and flexible, but for members only
(and many more) are simpler and easier to use. You do not get a new email account, you just access to your existing account.
If you write a reply in a POP to web gateway, your regular email address will be in the From: line. This, and their simplicity make POP to web gateways my preferred method of accessing email on the road.
Your ISP's Webmail
Many ISPs offer a webmail service. Like web-based email services, they allow you to read and write email through a browser interface. Like POP to Web gateways they offer no new email account, just access to your existing one.
Your ISP's webmail service will usually only give you access to your mailbox at that ISP. The nice things about Webmail services are that your regular email address appears in the From: header and they usually do not carry advertisements, neither on the Web site nor in outgoing emails.
No matter how you get to your mail on the road, keep privacy and pecurity in mind.
