Save an Email to a Folder in AOL

After you have read an email in AOL, it is not automatically saved or retained for more than a couple of days — unless, of course, you've told AOL to do that.

But even if you have set up AOL to save all incoming mail to the Saved Mail folder on your computer, filing certain messages manually has its benefit: you can use custom folders you have created to keep your messages organized.

Save an Email to a Folder in AOL

To move an email to a folder in AOL:

  • Open or highlight the message you want to save.
    • If you use highlighting, you can select multiple messages using the Ctrl key.
  • Click Save.
  • Select On My PC and then the desired folder or sub-folder.
  • Click OK.

Exporting and Backing Up AOL Mail

To export a message from Saved on My PC, forward it.

You can also back up the messages thus saved locally, or move them to a different computer.
