How to Quote the Original Message in a Reply with AOL

By , About.com Guide

If you're a bit like me, you send hundreds and thousands of email every day (more or less). If somebody replies to one of the messages, you do not immediately know what the sender is replying to, and what "I think so too" refers to in the reply.

That's why it's a good idea to quote the original message in replies. In AOL, doing this is easy, but not obvious.

Quote the Original Message in a Reply with AOL

To quote the original message in a reply with AOL:

  • Open the message you want to reply to in AOL.
  • Highlight the part of the message you want to include in your reply with the mouse.
  • Click Reply.

AOL automatically includes the highlighted text in your reply, indented by a quotation bar. Type your text below the quoted text you're referring to.
