How to Pgp-encrypt Any Email Message

Pretty Good Privacy comes with a number of plug-ins for email clients. But you can easily use PGP to encrypt messages with any email client.

Difficulty Level: Hard    Time Required: 5 minutes


Here's How:
  1. Make sure PGPtray is running. If it is not, you can find it in "Start | Programs | P G P".
  2. Create a new message in your email client or Web-based email service and type it as usual.
  3. To ensure the body of the message is the active window, click with the mouse anywhere in it.
  4. Select "Current Window | Encrypt" from the PGPtray menu.
  5. In the "Key Selection Dialog" select the key for the reciepient(s) of the message.
  6. Send the message.


Tips:

  1. To have PGPtray always running, place it in your "Startup" folder.
  2. You can additionally sign the message. To do that, use "Encrypt & Sign" from the PGPtray menu instead of "Encrypt".
