Important and urgent mail now comes first, if you like, in Gmail. If you don't like Gmail's initial idea of important and urgent, you can always train your Priority Inbox like the spam filter.
When it's important to convey tone, or when you feel the sudden urge to hear your daughter's voice, Google Voice integration lets you make and receive phone calls right in Gmail.
Other recent additions to Gmail include a spell checker for search (which then finds not only mail but also files from Google Docs) and keyboard shortcuts for Contacts (which you can now sort by first or last name and merge manually).
›› Gmail is the Google approach to email, chat and social networking. Practically unlimited free online storage allows you to collect all your messages, and Gmail's simple but very smart interface lets you find mail precisely and see it in context without effort.

Isn’t this particular feature still in the beta phase of development, or has it already been released?
Just curious.
Hi Laura,
Priority Inbox is in its beta phase; you’re right.
Priority Inbox does not work really well with IMAP yet, and nearly not at all in Gmail mobile.
all the best,
Heinz
