The horses did not speak in a language Lemuel Gulliver understood. He could make out two words that came up frequently between the horses and some creatures resembling humans, though: "Houyhnhnm" and "Yahoo".
Gulliver had no idea what "Yahoo" meant. He tried and learned to pronounce it, regardless, and by calling the human-like species "Yahoo" gained some access to them.
iPhone Mail has little idea of horses, Yahoos or Gulliver, but it can talk to Yahoo! Mail flawlessly — and frequently:
