Learning can be represented by taste, and good actions by scent. Together, they make up The Four Species: the etrog (citron) smells and tastes intensively; the myrtle smells but you cannot taste it; the lulav (date palm branch) has taste but lacks fragrance; the willow, finally, neither tastes nor smells.
All persons — the learned, those with good deeds, the learned with good deeds and those who have neither — make up real community and come together to celebrate Sukkoth:
