Not all members of the genus crocus bloom in Spring. Crocus sativa, whose stamens we use as saffron today, was a source of yellow dye for the ancient Romans (who called it crocus, too) and blooms in Autumn, for example.But now let's send some Spring emails as fresh as my risotto is yellow:
