Agricola, a self-taught musician, was not only composer and teacher (cantor at Magdeburg), but he also published an important opus on instruments, Musica instrumentalis deudsch (in rhymed verse). The descriptions of early organs are particularly valuable, and they are also what made me think of httpmail, whose countless switches, pedals, settings and pipes can be a bit confusing to orchestrate.
