"Early to bed and early to rise," you all know the age-old proverb, "makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise." It was through Benjamin Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanac, whose first issue was published on this day some 270 years ago, that this quotation was popularized.
Now, there are many ways to read and interpret it, from puritan nonsense to timeless wisdom, but fortunately the "early" is subject to interpretation, too... speaking of "early": early to pick and early to send, makes a Christmas card delight many a friend.
