Before you can connect to an AOL email account via POP3, you need to know the AOL POP settings. Then you can access your AOL Mail messages in Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, or any other compatible email client.

It's also possible to access your AOL email account via IMAP with the AOL IMAP settings.

What Are the POP Settings for AOL Mail?

When you want to connect with your AOL Mail account via POP from another email program, provide the following requested information:

  • AOL Mail POP3 server address: pop.aol.com
  • AOL Mail POP username: Your AOL Mail screen name (for example, if your address is me@aol.com, your screen name is "me")
  • AOL Mail POP password: Your AOL Mail password
  • AOL Mail POP port: 995
  • AOL Mail POP TLS/SSL required: yes

Outgoing Email Configuration

You'll also need to set up the SMTP settings to send AOL mail from any email client. To do so, use the AOL SMTP server settings. These settings the same as the POP3 settings listed above, with the following exceptions:

  • AOL Mail outgoing mail server (SMTP) address: smtp.aol.com
  • Outgoing mail SSL/TLS port: 587

To protect your privacy, enable SSL encryption for both incoming and outgoing mail.
