Friendly Cupids Stationery

Is cupid the son of Zeus — who my Greek teacher insisted is properly pronounced "ze-ous" — (or Ares?) and Venus, the creation of chaos and earth, offspring of Hermes and Artemis, or are his parents Erebus, the Greek god of darkness, and Nyx, the goddess of the night?
