I have recently talked to a friend who is into neurology, and she explained how enormously complicated it is when we concentrate on one of the many things we see. It's also interesting that moving the focus from one thing to another can't be stopped. Once you have decided you want to look at something you can't willingly look at something else before you have seen that something. I'm still trying to prove her wrong on this. Meanwhile, there's not much else I can do (though I want to)...

Changing the columns is not a problem. Keeping them changed is. For instance, under the folder Read I have sub folders. I set the column From for each folder and, similarly, column To for each Sent folder. When I switch back to the Read folders, the columns have reverted to their former setting.
Hi Kenneth,
Outlook Express uses two sets of column layouts. One is uses for “Sent Items”, “Outbox” and “Drafts” and the other for all other folders (even if they are sub-folders of “Sent Items”, for example). If you change one folder’s layout, you change the layout of all similar folders. Maybe that’s the reason for the odd behavior you see?
