Sounding as if they had just stopped spam, four of the major Internet Service Providers have announced... what (it seems they believe) is indeed the beginning of the end of spam: Microsoft, Yahoo!, Earthlink and AOL are filing a series of lawsuits against a number of alleged spammers under the Can-Spam Act, which went into effect at the beginning of the year.
Apparently not taking the law -- which does allow for some forms of unsolicited email advertising -- seriously, spammers are not complying with its rules and continue to hide their identities, don't provide effective unsubscription options and use deceptive subjects. Wired News reports.
